Introducing:Ā TheĀ Voter Veto

Reverse City Council's Decision to Give Garden Ave. to Scientology!

Voter Veto Survey

This survey is active and will be closed on July 4, 2026

On June 18, 2026, the Clearwater City Council voted 3–2 to vacate South Garden Avenue and transfer it to the Church of Scientology.

Under Section 6.02 of the Clearwater Charter, citizens have the power to challenge recently passed ordinances through a referendum. We call this a Voter Veto because it gives the people the final say.

A committee of five Clearwater residents has initiated the process. If successful, voters, not politicians, will decide whether Garden Avenue should be transferred.

The challenge is substantial. The committee will have just 90 days to collect approximately 7,000 valid signatures from registered Clearwater voters. To succeed, it expects to hire professional canvassers and build a citywide signature-gathering effort at an estimated cost of $100,000.

At this time, neither Save The Garden nor the referendum committee is soliciting donations. We are simply measuring public interest to determine whether enough support exists to launch a full-scale Voter Veto campaign.

Any amount entered below is for planning purposes only and does not constitute a donation, pledge, or financial commitment.

Please let us know whether you would support a Voter Veto campaign and, if so, at what level.

(This is for research only - it isĀ neither a pledgeĀ norĀ a donation.)
